All for the Love of Rock & Roll

Paul Stanley

Paul wrote "All for the Love of Rock & Roll" for Eric which concisely summed up what Paul felt Eric's approach to his life and music encapsulated. He commented, "My motivation is the music. I'm a blue-collar guy in that way. I approach playing drums in KISS as a job, no different than a fireman, a school teacher or someone who works in an office. I think I've earned Gene and Paul's confidence and respect, but it took some time" (Billboard). In this one song many fans felt that the band had recaptured a swagger similar to material recorded in the pre-Alive era. Eric felt that this was a better song for him to sing and that "All For The Glory" would probably have been better with Paul singing due to the vocal style. For the song Paul took a lot of time in the studio to make Eric comfortable with the vocal and really take ownership of it by making him sing take after take, until the point that the song really became his (Rock Music Star).
