Hell or Hallejulah

Paul Stanley

"Hell or Hallelujah" was written by Paul Stanley and became the lead-off single from the "Monster" album. It was first released digitally on July 3, 2012. Physical promotional CDs were made and sent to select radio stations which included a 3:57 radio edit that chopped the introduction riff repetition down by a couple of bars. The song peaked at number 1 on the iTunes™ Top Rock Song chart and reached #36 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart while not getting a tremendous amount of radio airplay. It was first performed live at the band's concert at the HVM Forum in London, England on July 4 and was the only new material included in the bands "The Tour" set list during the summer of 2012. As lead-off track also on the album the Paul Stanley has described it as being "a battle cry that encapsulates the entire record," very much the sort of anthem Kiss often strove to write, "up-tempo, a great riff, definitive Kiss" (Classic Rock).
