Modern Day Delilah

Paul Stanley

"Modern Day Delilah" was the lead-off single from the album and was released to radio on August 18, 2009. The single performed well on heritage radio and even with limited distribution and promotion it managed to debut at #26 on Billboard's rock airplay charts, eventually reaching #11. A video, directed by Wayne Isham, was filmed at an invitation-only warm-up show at Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan on September 24, but didn't really surface until the end of the year. The band approached the recording of the album around riffs, but also trying to get an honest feel. According to Paul, "If we got to three takes of a song, Eric would get worried that we were losing something... If we did a tenth take, how much better would it be than the first? It might be a little bit more perfect, but what do you lose for it? So, we were making an album that would appeal to us emotionally and not something we were going to make under a microscope." It's difficult to not hear the influence of different eras of KISS, particularly on the solo.
