Then She Kissed Me

Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich, Phillip Spector

This song was originally recorded by the famed Brooklyn female vocal group The Crystals. It was released as a single in its original form as "Then He Kissed Me" in August 1963. The song was the last of the groups hits, reaching #6 on the Billboard charts, before producer Phil Spector concentrated more on another of his girl-groups: The Ronnettes. KISS had to rework the lyrics to change the gender perspective of the song. According to Gene, the genesis of this song was that the band had originally goofed off with it during sound check in Switzerland during the 1976 European Tour.
