Sweet Pain (Resurrected)

Gene Simmons

Bob was hopeful that they'd discover new material in the vaults for the "Resurrected" project. One thing he discovered was the long-lost missing Ace Frehley solo for "Sweet Pain." This song had been the cause of much friction when Bob had replaced Ace's version with one by session player Dick Wagner back in 1976. To say the least it was very odd that Bob was now excited about it. Perhaps the years had erased the memory of why he'd replaced it at the time. Bob suggested, "I found this old Ace solo and I just loved it! I thought it was amazing. So I put that in instead" (Tim McPhate). For many fans the release of this particular piece of KISStory would be the only interesting item on the release. They weren't bothered about a remix, but Frehley guitar material was another matter regardless of the overall quality of the piece.
